Love slow cooker pork roast? We sure do! Not only is crock pot pork roast delicious, it's super versatile. Everything from your classic pulled pork barbecue to amazing casseroles or even a quick and easy change for "Taco Tuesdays". Your options are limited only by your imagination.
It's freezer friendly before and after cooking too. Or if time is a factor, you can even cook it overnight.
Most roasts are huge. And the grocery store price increases exponentially as the cut of the meat goes down. I get that the butcher has to cut more, the extra packaging, etc...I get it. But just because that huge cut of meat looks intimidating, don't pass that baby up!
You can season it, cook it...even brown it, in just a few minutes. Pop that lid on the top and walk away or go to bed, whichever...let it cool and package it into freezer bags for excellent quick and easy weeknight meals.
We've made up a batch, made it into a couple of our favorite recipes and added some more options at the bottom too!
We hope you enjoy and that it makes your life a little easier in the grand scheme. Give us a shout out on the Facebook page or comment below with any questions, suggestions or yummy inventions.
Whatever you do, just rock that crock 🙂
Basic 4-Ingredient Crock Pot Pork Roast
Crock pot pulled pork is an excellent standby recipe. When most folks here "pulled pork" they think sandwiches. And those are great! BUT did you know there's a whole host of things you can make with pulled pork?
Pretty much anything you can make with chicken breast, you can substitute pulled pork. AND though you can make pulled pork in the smoker or in the oven pretty easy...neither is as juicy as crock pot pulled pork. And you'll only need 4 ingredients. Then you can turn this versatile yumminess into any sort of dish you want 🙂
Pork Roast Slow Cooker Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 to 4-pound pork roast
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1/4 cup steak sauce
- 2 teaspoons liquid smoke (optional)
I recommend cooking this for 7 to 10 hours. That varies depending on how hot and fast your crock pot cooks (the cook times vary LOTS). But even if you goof and cook it too long, you'll still come up with something delicious. I thought I was going to be gone for about 8 hours the other day so I tossed mine in...
Then life happened and I was gone 12 hours. When I saw my roast I literally groaned.
I groaned loud enough my dog thought she was in trouble for a moment 🙂
I figured what did I have to loose. So I cooled it a bit then shredded the meat.
No worries this time! I was lucky. It turned out just fine. It actually tasted a lot like the recipes when you pre-brown the meat a bit. Just a little extra flavor. No issues with hard edges or anything. Thank goodness I followed the verbiage at the beginning of my own recipes where I say "spray, butter or oil..". It would have been an epic mess if I hadn't.
Thank goodness I followed the verbiage at the beginning of my own recipes where I say "spray, butter or oil..". It would have been an epic mess if I hadn't. I REALLY need to get one of those Wifi models. Oh well. Maybe when one breaks or Mother's Day (kids...hint, hint)

Dinner Ideas Using Crock Pot Pork Roast!
These simple pulled pork crock pot recipes can be a real life saver. Any & all of them can be made just like they are listed OR you can use the basic recipe shown right above. Once you freeze it in portions you can whip up dinner in a flash. After looking up these yummy recipes I can tell you one sure thing... pulled pork isn't just for sandwiches 🙂
Easy Crock Pot Barbecue Pork Roast Sandwiches by Slow Cooker Kitchen
These pulled pork sandwiches are a quick and easy classic. Just a few ingredients and 5 minutes and you'll be rockin' your crock (pot)!
Starting With Pre-Cooked Meats:
First, if you start off with the pre-made pork from the recipe linked above, you'll just need to add your choice of barbecue sauce and hot sauce. The hot sauce is totally optional but we like the flavor. You'll need about 2 to 3 times the amount of meat in relation to the amount of sauce.
With this recipe, I used about 3 cups of pulled pork tenderloin, 1 1/2 cups Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauce and 2 teaspoons Louisiana Hot Sauce.
Then, you simply toss everything in the (oiled) crockpot, stir, cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours.
Starting With Raw Chunk of Meat:
Also, if you're starting with a raw chunk of meat, no worries. Cause it's still super simple. You're just combining two recipes.
You will need:
- 2 1/2 to 4-pound pork roast or loin
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1/4 cup steak sauce
- 2 teaspoons liquid smoke (optional)
- 1 large bottle barbecue sauce of your choice
- 1 tablespoon Louisiana Hot Sauce (optional)
Just oil the crock, lay in the roast and pour and sprinkle steak sauce, liquid smoke & soup mix over the top.
Now cover and cook it all day (5 to 8 hours on low).
You'll need to let the meat cool just a bit before you pull it. You can use a couple forks to get it on a platter. Then it usually takes 5 to 15 minutes to cool.
Next, pull the meat apart with forks. Then drain the fat out of the crockpot and toss the meat back in.
Lastly, add the barbecue sauce and hot sauce. Stir well and cover. Keep on warm 'til you're ready to eat.
This is What You'll Get Either Way
Pretty much, either way you go with this recipe, it's going to turn out looking a lot like this.
NOW you can toss it on buns, add pickles and dinner is all done! Me personally I LOVE dill pickles with barbecue. I'm told not everyone does..if that's you, of course, leave them off. Some folks like cheeses, others don't. Maybe it depends on the barbecue sauce. That's my option personally. Anyways, you'll have to experiment with that one and see what you think.

Cheesy Pulled Pork Sliders by Slow Cooker Kitchen
These crock pot pork roast sliders are SOOOOO yummy you will NOT care they're so sloppy. Gooey, cheesy and just a touch of sweet. They are an awesome weekend treat!
I became a bit obsessed with King's Hawaiian rolls over the last holiday season. It was their fault. Cause they had huge displays everywhere I shopped. Their prices just plain rocked. I bought lots of them. We ate lots of them. I even gave them away as gifts (I'm a weird gift giver)... but no one is ever hungry when I'm done.
Hats off King's Hawaiian, excellent marketing strategy there 🙂
Anyways, back to this crock pot pork roast. It doesn't start from scratch. It starts by using pulled pork from this 4-Ingredient Crock Pot Pulled Pork recipe.
This base recipe works with any sort of pork roast or pork loin. THEN you can use that pulled meat for all sorts of quick and easy meals.
Step-by-Step Crock Pot Pork Roast Sliders:
You'll Need:
- 2 to 3 cups pulled pork
- 1 block cream cheese
- 2 to 2 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 large sweet onion, sliced thin
- 6 slices swiss or provolone cheese
- 1 dozen rolls of your choice (I used King's Hawaiian Savory Butter)
First, mix up the shredded meat, cheeses, and soup
You can go two different ways here. #1 Toss it all in the crockpot, mix it up, cover and warm on low a couple hours. ~or~ if you're in a hurry...#2 Toss it in a skillet, mix it up, cover and warm on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes...then proceed.
Now It's Time to Caramelize Your Onions
If you used option #2 and opted for using a skillet, you'll need a second skillet for the onions.
Cut the rolls in half...
Next, layer the meat mixture, then the caramelized onions, then the cheese slices...
Finally, pop it under the broiler for a couple minutes to melt your cheese.
Most of all...ENJOY! These are Delish!

This easy crockpot pulled pork is proof positive that yummy does NOT equal complicated. Most of these recipes can be tossed together in a matter of minutes. Even IF you start from scratch instead of with the pre-made crock pot pork roast recipe, you're still only looking at 5 to 6 ingredients.
You can make all these recipes with any sort of pork roast or loin. The tenderloins tend to have less fat but are also more expensive. If you go with a pork shoulder or roast you can cook it then drain off most of the fat. So no worries. It works either way.
